On July 10 of this year, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Dilshod Sultanov met with representatives of the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), headed by Vincent de Paul Koukpaizan.
The mission included IMF staff members Stephen Vespermann and John Middleton, as well as ADB staff members Najam Javaid and Gou Nagata.
The meeting discussed the main directions of the joint mission of the IMF and ADB to assess the tax administration of Uzbekistan through the tool "TADAT".
The main objective of the mission is a diagnostic assessment of the state of tax administration (TADAT), within the framework of which it is supposed to identify strengths and weaknesses in the tax administration system, as well as to determine a program for its further reform and sequence of actions.
In order to maximize the accuracy of data when assessing the tax administration system, it was also proposed to organize working missions to the regions to study in detail the state of tax administration on the ground.
In turn, Vincent de Paul Koukpaizan thanked Dilshod Sultanov and the Ministry of Economy and Finance for the warm welcome.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to organize additional meetings for the timely resolution of emerging issues during the mission.
For reference: TADAT is a tool designed to provide an objective assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of key components of the country's tax administration system, taking into account nine areas of performance. The results of the assessment show the scale of the required reform and the relative priorities that require attention.
