Final meeting held within the framework of the International Monetary Fund mission

The meeting was attended by IMF Senior Economist Etibor Jafarov, Senior Economist of the Middle East and Central Asia Department Alejandro Simone, Head of the IMF Representative Office in Uzbekistan Koba Gvenetadze, Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan Timur Ishmetov, Chairman of the National Statistics Committee Behzod Hamraev, and other responsible representatives.
During the discussion, the parties exchanged views on the country's economic and financial development, particularly focusing on macroeconomic indicators, results achieved and goals set for sustainable reduction of inflation, privatization processes and support for the private sector, as well as matters related to budget and tax administration.
Representatives of the International Monetary Fund positively assessed the rates of economic growth and development prospects in Uzbekistan. Attention was also drawn to the fact that, despite global economic uncertainties, high results are being achieved in improving macroeconomic indicators and socio-economic development. Special emphasis was placed on the results our country has achieved in its process of joining the World Trade Organization.
At the same time, during the discussions, it was emphasized that accelerating economic and financial reforms in the future, ensuring macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, reducing the state's share in the economy and increasing the role of the private sector, as well as combating the shadow economy, are of crucial importance.
At the conclusion of the negotiations, the parties agreed to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation ties and expand the process of exchanging views on the above-mentioned issues.
