The work of enterprises and the construction of new capacities has started

Therefore, it has become a tradition for the Head of state to consider the most important projects during his trips to the regions. In Fergana region, a ceremony was held to launch and begin the construction of new enterprises.

At the beginning of his speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that Fergana’s industry volume has increased by 1.3 times over the past five years. The volume of exports almost doubled and amounted to $722 million.

The volume of investments is also growing every year. If in 2018, only $90 million of investments were disbursed in the region, then last year, this figure amounted to $1.3 billion. The number of enterprises with foreign capital has reached 470.

In the region, work is progressing accelerated on 110 projects worth $6 billion in foreign investment and 22 local projects worth $1.1 billion. More than 20 thousand jobs will be created there.

“Previously, there were problems implementing even six projects in the region. Today, we are talking about $6 billion worth of projects. Why? We grew, developed, convinced investors, and created conditions. We will continue this work”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

About a hundred projects worth $370 million have been implemented in the Kokand Free Economic Zone, creating 9 thousand new jobs. In the first half of this year, they produced products worth 1.5 trillion UZS and exported $60 million.

According to a recent Presidential Resolution, this industrial zone will be expanded by 210 hectares along the city of Quvasoy. It will host 185 projects worth $1 billion and create 12,000 jobs. In addition, the Uzbekistan – China Special Industrial Zone, with an area of ​​230 hectares, will be created in Kokand city.

One of the successful projects in the region is a plant for the production of mineral fertilizers together with the Singaporean company Indorama. The second stage for producing highly effective complex fertilizers is being launched, and the third stage is beginning. As a result, more than 300,000 tons of products will be produced per year, and additional exports of $50 million will be ensured.

Four more launched projects are in the energy sector. This is a solar power plant in Beshariq district, an electricity storage system in Uzbekistan district, and small hydroelectric power plants in Fergana district.

The economy’s demand for electricity is growing at an average rate of 6 percent per year. Therefore, renewable energy sources are also being developed along with traditional ones.

Over the past three years, 10 solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 2.4 gigawatts have been connected to the grid thanks to $2 billion in foreign investment. By the end of the year, about 2.6 gigawatts of capacity from 12 stations will be connected. There are also 32 green projects currently underway with a total capacity of 18.3 gigawatts worth $19 billion. It is important to note that such projects exist in every region.

In particular, in Beshariq district of Fergana, together with the German company Hyper Partners, construction of a 500-megawatt solar power plant begins. The first 200 megawatts of the $350 million project will be connected to the grid this year and be fully operational next year. It will generate 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours of green energy per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 675 thousand households. As a result, 466 million cubic meters of natural gas will be saved.

In Uzbekistan, at the expense of $144 million in foreign investment, the first electricity storage system with a capacity of 150 megawatts will be built. The complex, created in collaboration with the Chinese company Gezhouba Group, will be launched before the end of this year. It automatically turns on when electricity demand increases and ensures grid stability.

These modern plants will help ensure energy security, increase economic efficiency and improve environmental sustainability.

Another area is the efficient use of water resources. Over the past seven years, $630 million in investment has created more than 400 megawatts of new capacity and increased hydroelectric capacity to 2.2 gigawatts.

Opportunities have been identified for constructing 200 small and micro-hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 56 megawatts in the country. In this regard, a separate program was adopted. Within its framework, two small hydroelectric power stations were built in remote areas of Fergana district. The first is a station with a capacity of 2.2 megawatts, built in Shakhimardan village, the second is 430 kilowatts in Yuqori Vodil village. They will provide uninterrupted electricity to residents of nearby mahallas.
