On October 30, 2024, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the experts of the Finnish non-profit Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, Dr. Edward Marques and Otto Turtonen.

The foundation representatives emphasized the significant role of Uzbekistan in establishing long-term and sustainable peace in Afghanistan, and also expressed interest in establishing cooperation with the Uzbek side in supporting dialogue between the various parties to the conflict, conducting research, and developing strategies for a peaceful settlement and ensuring social stability in Afghanistan.
