On July 11, 2024, another round of political consultations was held between the Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Japan in Tokyo.

The delegations were headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov and Special Representative for Central Asia, the Caucasus and GUAM at Foreign Ministry of Japan Masaki Ikegami.

During the negotiations, the issues of intensifying political dialogue, developing trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other areas of cooperation were discussed. The sides expressed mutual interest in strengthening inter-parliamentary ties and expanding the legal framework for relations.

The parties noted the positive dynamics in the development of interstate relations and confirmed that they are ready to mobilize all the opportunities for further deepening of the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to the schedule and organizational aspects of joint events of a bilateral and interregional nature, including “Central Asia + Japan”.

The sides also exchanged views on current international and regional issues.
