On May 8, 2026, a spiritual and educational event dedicated to May 9 — the Day of Memory and Honor — was organized at the central office of the Treasury Service Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The main purpose of the event was to honor the memory of World War II participants and labor veterans, preserve historical memory, and strengthen the feelings of patriotism, loyalty, and devotion among the younger generation and the Committee’s employees.
At the beginning of the event, participants became acquainted with a display stand titled “Duty, Courage, and Fortitude!”, which featured information, photographs, and memories related to the employees’ ancestors who participated in the war and were labor veterans.
Afterwards, the Chairman of the Committee, A. Khaydarov, delivered an opening speech. He emphasized the importance of honoring the memory of ancestors who sacrificed their lives for the peaceful and prosperous life of our people, as well as the significance of passing on their courage and resilience to the younger generation.
During the event, a theatrical performance entitled “The Honorable Path” was presented. The performance movingly portrayed a mother seeing her son off to war, living with longing and hope in his absence, and eventually receiving a letter from the postman informing her of her son’s death. Through this performance, the tragic consequences of war, the immeasurable suffering in mothers’ hearts, and the resilience of our people were artistically conveyed. The performance left a deep impression on the participants and was met with prolonged applause from the audience.
The event continued with vibrant artistic performances by a singer from the State Philharmonic of Uzbekistan, as well as the “Bulbulcha” choir and dance group. National dances and musical performances by the children added a special charm and uplifting spirit to the event. Patriotic songs and compositions praising national values, performed by the Philharmonic singer, were warmly welcomed by the audience. During the musical performances, the participants themselves also joined in dancing and actively engaged in the joyful and sincere atmosphere of the event.
In addition, during the event, People’s Artist of Uzbekistan and actress of the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theatre Gavhar Zakirova shared touching memories and life stories related to the war years. The actress masterfully recited poems by Muhammad Yusuf dedicated to parental love, separation, and longing. The poems about fathers, as well as the fate of mothers and children, deeply moved the audience and emotionally affected the participants. Her heartfelt and touching performance created a warm atmosphere in the hall and was met with long-lasting applause from the audience.
At the conclusion of the event, Philharmonic dancers performed captivating national dances that brought a festive spirit to everyone present. Graceful stage performances, energetic songs, and dances added a unique atmosphere to the celebration and left unforgettable impressions on the attendees. The participants warmly applauded the artists’ outstanding performances, and the event concluded in a sincere and uplifting atmosphere.
This spiritual and educational event served to further strengthen respect for historical memory, devotion to national values, and reverence for representatives of the older generation within the team.
