Baliqchi district administration

About
Balykchi district was established on September 29, 1926 and is an administrative-territorial unit of Andijan region.
The territorial area of Balykchi district is 340 km2. According to the administrative-territorial structure, Balikchi district consists of 44 rural settlements and 66 mahalla citizens' assemblies. Balikchi district borders Ulug'nor district (20 km), Bo'ston district (1.8 km), Oltinkul district (36.2 km), Izboskan district (18.5 km) and Shahrikhan district (20 km).
Population
There are 53.4 thousand families in Balikchi district. As of January 1, 2023, the population of Balikchi district is 6.4 percent of the permanent population of the region (3,322.7 thousand people), or 211.3 thousand people. Of these, 70.7 thousand people live in urban areas and 140.6 thousand in rural areas. The population density is 621 people per 1 sq. km.
The population is mainly Uzbeks; Russians, Tatars, Tajiks, Uyghurs, etc. also live. There are 416 people per km2.
Nature
The district consists of plains. The average temperature in January is -4°, in July - 26°. The average annual precipitation is 195 - 210 mm. The vegetation period is 235 days. The Karadarya, Mazgilsoy, Chinobodsoy and the Great Andijan Canal flow through the district. The Syrdarya River begins in the Serkuyosh neighborhood of the Balikchi district. The soil is grassy gray, slightly saline.
Plants include sage, wormwood, dandelion, reed, yarrow, yarrow, ajriq, yulgun, aqbosh, sorrel, kirk-slogan, gumay, koypechak, and mint. Goats, turtles, foxes, rabbits, snakes, lizards, and birds include storks, ducks, sparrows, shrike, crows, and jays.
