Uzbekistan is paying particular attention to the development of the fish farming sector and the widespread introduction of modern technologies. Rational use of land and water resources and achieving high productivity through intensive methods on small areas are of particular importance.
“Chinobod real biznes” enterprise has introduced such a modern system. The project was implemented pursuant to the Presidential Decree of July 2 this year on the development of the fish farming sector. The enterprise helps meet the demand of fish farms in the Fergana Valley for trout fingerlings.
The total value of the project amounts to 30 billion soums. The enterprise has created 30 jobs.
The modern complex, located on an area of two hectares, produces 200 tons of fish meat and 2.5 million fish fingerlings annually. The annual production volume amounts to 50 billion soums.
As a result of applying intensive technologies, two hectares of land can produce a volume of output comparable to that traditionally obtained from ponds covering 100 hectares.
The complex also has a laboratory capable of naturally purifying two million liters of water. It cultivates chlorella algae, which improves water quality. This environmentally friendly system helps increase the efficiency of fish farming by an additional 15–20 percent.
The enterprise’s electricity needs are fully covered by solar panels. Water discharged from the fish ponds, which is rich in natural substances such as phosphorus, ammonia and calcium, is not wasted but used to irrigate crops. Thus, an integrated system for the reuse of resources has been established at the complex.
The enterprise exports 2 million trout fingerlings annually to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan. Annual export revenues amount to $2 million, while budget revenues total 5 billion soums.
The project also contributes to providing employment for the local population. In the Sarvul mahalla of Baliqchi district, 20 households cooperate with the enterprise to raise trout and earn additional income.
The complex has also established an integration between education and production. In cooperation with the Andijan Institute of Agriculture and Agrotechnologies, a “Practical Center for Fish Farming and Poultry Farming” has been established. Students strengthen their theoretical knowledge directly through the production process and gain practical skills.
The President noted that such highly efficient projects play an important role in ensuring employment and strengthening food security.
Relevant officials were instructed to widely disseminate this experience and increase the number of new projects by applying intensive methods on small areas, enabling production volumes to be increased several times.
