An important meeting was held at the Agency for the Development of Light Industry under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The meeting was attended by the delegation headed by Mr. M. Gulomov, Head of Operations for Uzbekistan at the ADB.
During the meeting, the Agency provided detailed information on the large-scale reforms being implemented in the light industry sector, existing challenges, and the measures being taken to address them.
Project proposals were also presented to develop cooperation in the following priority areas:
– increasing energy efficiency through the installation of solar panels;
– establishment of modern laboratory centers;
– creation of competence centers in the leather and footwear industry;
– strengthening the capacity of the population in silk production, carpet weaving, and textile sectors;
– introduction of platforms aimed at improving product quality and expanding access to international markets.
These initiatives are intended to increase production volumes, strengthen export potential, and raise the income level of the population.

The Asian Development Bank was established in 1966 and currently unites more than 60 countries. Uzbekistan became a member of the bank in 1995.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and jointly implement promising projects.
