On March 6, 2026, the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Additional Measures for the Development of the Sericulture Sector Based on a New System and Strengthening the Feed Base” was adopted

The resolution is aimed at the consistent development of the sericulture sector, increasing the volume of cocoon production, and expanding export potential through the deep processing of products.
According to the resolution, important target indicators for the development of the sericulture sector until 2030 have been established. In particular, it предусматриes a significant increase in cocoon production, growth in silk product exports, and expansion of the level of deep processing of products.
Additionally, the resolution creates a number of opportunities for entrepreneurs currently operating in the sericulture sector, as well as for those planning to start activities in this field.
In particular:
- creating a strong feed base for silkworm breeding and establishing new mulberry plantations;
- introducing modern technologies into cocoon production, processing, and the manufacturing of finished products;
- expanding the activities of sericulture clusters and establishing new production capacities;
- creating new jobs in the regions and ensuring employment for the population;
- increasing the volume of high value-added products through the production of finished silk goods.
As a result of these measures, entrepreneurs will have broader opportunities to operate across the entire value chain in the sericulture sector — from raw material production to the manufacturing and export of finished products.
This will contribute to the sustainable development of the sericulture industry in the country, the creation of new production capacities and jobs, and the strengthening of the competitiveness of national products in international markets.
