Cooperation with Germany in the Light Industry Sector Discussed

On February 20, 2026, Nozimjon Kholmurodov, Director of the Agency for the Development of Light Industry under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Burkhard Oel, General Manager of the German company Curt Bauer.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the relocation of Curt Bauer to Uzbekistan, the gradual increase of production volumes, and the launch of high value-added product manufacturing.
The Agency’s Director, N. Kholmurodov, emphasized that attracting leading foreign brands to the light industry sector is of significant importance for increasing the country’s export potential, enhancing the qualifications of local specialists, and introducing modern technologies.
In particular, it was announced that Kamalak Shabnam Teks LLC, operating within the Buxoro Zarhal cluster, plans to increase production under the Curt Bauer brand to EUR 10 million in 2026, EUR 40 million in 2027, and EUR 50 million in 2028, with at least 60 percent of the products intended for export. It is also planned to provide advanced training in Germany for at least 100 local specialists by 2028.
The meeting also addressed draft regulatory and legal documents aimed at supporting foreign brands in the light industry sector, including partial compensation of salary expenses for specialists engaged under the Curt Bauer brand, as well as exemptions from customs duties and recycling fees for certain equipment and vehicles.
The parties exchanged views on further developing cooperation, ensuring the effective implementation of investment projects, and introducing modern technologies in the light industry sector.
