On February 21, the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with Ricardo Martinez Vazquez, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Uzbekistan, who is based in Moscow.
The parties concentrated on current topics related to Uzbek-Spanish cooperation, as well as the organizational aspects of conducting joint events in 2025.
A wide range of issues related to bilateral trade, economic cooperation, and investment interactions were discussed. After analyzing the composition and volumes of mutual trade, both parties agreed on the necessity of utilizing all available opportunities. This includes the duty-free trade regime under the GSP+ system of preferences, the organization of business missions, and, more broadly, the active involvement of new producers of in-demand products from both countries in trade processes.
The scale of investment cooperation is consistently increasing, with 16 enterprises featuring Spanish capital successfully operating in Uzbekistan.
The potential for securing financial and technical assistance from the Spanish Fund for Internationalisation of Enterprises (Fondo para la Internacionalización de la Empresa) for the implementation of joint projects and trade contracts presents significant opportunities in the realm of investment partnerships and the development of industrial cooperation.
In this context, measures to implement new projects in the fields of green energy, transportation and logistics, water and agriculture, as well as mining and metallurgy were discussed.
As a result of the meeting, a strong commitment was made to further deepen and expand cooperation in all areas discussed regarding bilateral relations.
