Meeting of the Council on Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation in Foreign Trade

On December 14, under the chairmanship of Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a regular meeting of the Council on Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation was convened.
Background: The Council on Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation was established under the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan by Presidential Decree No. PP-4135, dated January 28, 2019.
The primary goal of the meeting was to evaluate proposals aimed at protecting domestic manufacturing enterprises and increasing the production of high value-added industrial goods within the country.
During the session, the Council members conducted a comprehensive review of opportunities to optimize customs duty rates on imports of electrical equipment, agricultural machinery, metallurgy, food and chemical products, as well as agricultural and food commodities. These reviews carefully considered the impact on all stakeholders in the domestic market.
The Council also adopted decisions to simplify trade procedures for supplying local industrial enterprises with essential components, raw materials, and resources, thereby fostering conditions for accelerated growth and increased production volumes.
Special emphasis was placed on developing proposals to address challenges associated with obtaining permits for export and overall foreign trade activities.
As a result of the meeting, the Council resolved to develop actionable proposals and implement the necessary measures to address the issues outlined in the agenda.
