These days, Azerbaijan is hosting the “Space Technology Conference-2025”, which is becoming one of the most prestigious events in the global space market, organized in 2022 at the initiative of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of this international event, the fourth meeting of the heads of the space agencies of the members of the Turkic States Organization, in particular Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as the observer countries Hungary and Turkmenistan, was held.
At the meeting, the parties considered a number of issues, including further development of cooperation in the space sector, acceleration of technology transfer and exchange of experience in this regard, development of joint programs for the exploration of space for peaceful purposes, as well as joint development of space devices.
In particular, during the discussions, the current stages of the joint satellite project of the Kubsat type, planned to be created by the Turkic states, and the participation of Uzcosmos representatives in it were discussed. It was noted that according to the established plan, the engine part of this satellite is planned to be manufactured by Uzbek engineers.
Uzcosmos representatives also put forward a proposal to hold a “CanSat” competition among the TDT member states to create mini-satellites and conduct their test flights. This will be of great importance in further increasing the interest of the region's youth in space technology, astronautics and engineering, and supporting their initiatives and inventions in this regard.
In addition, at the meeting, the Azerbaijani side expressed its readiness to organize a “Virtual Space Academy” and training programs on geoinformation systems for citizens and observers of the TDT member states. These projects will provide citizens with a broader understanding of space activities, interest young people in this field, and an opportunity to get to know their ideas in this regard.
At the same time, the participants also provided information about this year's season of the third "Space Camp Türkiye" camp, which will be held in 2023 at the GUHEM Space and Aviation Training Center, the first Turkish Cosmonaut Academy of the TDT member states. As noted, so far about 150 schoolchildren and students have visited this camp and studied astronomy, rocketry, astrophysics, the solar system and other sciences.
Another of the most important news is that, at the invitation of Uzcosmos representatives, it was agreed to hold the fifth meeting of the heads of space agencies of the TDT member states in Uzbekistan.
The meeting discussed these and other issues on the agenda and made relevant decisions.
