Senators approved the Law "On Space Activities"!

The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted the Law “On Space Activities” at the next plenary session. This document determined the powers of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Digital Technologies and the Agency for Space Research and Technologies under it, and the Ministry of Defense in the field of space activities. It was stipulated that one of the main directions of state policy is to facilitate the identification of violations of the law in economic sectors through the processing of space images.
It also provides for scientific research in the space sector, types of space systems, namely remote sensing of the Earth, state space monitoring, space communication system, high-precision satellite navigation system, use of space rocket complexes (cosmodromes), labeling, leasing of space objects, utilization of space objects and technical means, space infrastructure and safety of activities, the basis for financing activities, and issues of international cooperation.
The law pays special attention to issues such as the exploration and use of outer space and the Earth using space technologies to achieve goals in science, socio-economic, environmental, defense, security and other areas, as well as monitoring the impact of space activities on the environment, natural resources and public health. At the same time, it is stipulated that the development and implementation of strategic directions and state programs in the field of space activities, as well as assistance in identifying violations of legislation in economic sectors through the processing of space images, are among the main directions of state policy.
As noted by the senators, the adoption of the law will regulate the field of space activities, clearly define the responsible bodies, their powers and responsibilities, and create a legal guarantee for the implementation of space activities in order to prevent possible risks, protect the environment, ensure defense and security.
