According to the results of space monitoring conducted by the agency in the field of ecology to date this year, it was determined that there are 1,928 illegal landfills on an area of about 721 hectares in the Republic. Of these, 123, or 255.5 hectares, are registered as illegal landfills, and 1,805, or 465.2 hectares, are registered as illegal landfills.
In particular, 243 (63.2 hectares) in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, 168 (22 hectares) in the Khorezm region, 92 (91.7 hectares) in the Bukhara region, 216 (112.4 hectares) in the Navoi region, 147 (41.2 hectares) in the Samarkand region, 81 (79.3 hectares) in the Kashkadarya region, 180 (42 hectares) in the Andijan region, 195 (65.2 hectares) in the Namangan region, 164 (51 hectares) in the Fergana region, 363 (98.6 hectares) in the Tashkent region, 39 (30.44 hectares) in the Jizzakh region and 40 (20.11 hectares) in the Surkhandarya region.
It should be noted that the creation of such illegal landfills is dangerous, first of all, because it has a significant negative impact on the environment and ecology, negatively affecting the quality of soil, water and air. In addition, it leads to the proliferation of harmful insects, an increase in infectious diseases, and the development of lung cancer and respiratory disorders in humans.
