Have you heard of “World Space Week”?
Every year, in the first 10 days of October, major events dedicated to the theme of space are organized all over the world. Why, because on October 4, 1957, the former Soviet Union was one of the first to launch its artificial satellite into space. On October 10, 1967, a special agreement was signed between the USA, Great Britain and the former Soviet Union in this direction. Based on this, in 1999, the UN General Assembly signed a resolution on the celebration of “World Space Week”.
For almost 25 years, this date and related events have been widely celebrated in every country of the world. Every year, the week is organized under a certain slogan. For example, last year, the idea of “Space and Entrepreneurship” was put forward, noting that space is not only a field of scientific research, but also a profitable commercial platform for everyone. For 2024, the theme “Space and Climate Change” was chosen. It is planned to hold more than 16 thousand events in more than 90 countries.
In fact, the main goal of “World Space Week” is to familiarize people with research and innovations in this area, to study new technologies and projects, to attract young people to this mysterious world, in particular, to inspire students from all over the world to study exact sciences, engineering, mathematics and business, and to further develop educational programs in this area.
The “Uzbekkosmos” agency, which has been engaged in space research and technology in Uzbekistan, will also participate in “World Space Week” this year with its interesting projects. We will inform you about them in detail in our next messages.
We invite educational institutions, general education schools, academic lyceums, universities and institutes, large companies and enterprises that plan to participate in this week with their ideas and initiatives to cooperate!
