In the Republic of Uzbekistan, advanced technologies for monitoring the condition of dams in reservoirs, for example, satellite interferometry radar methods - InSAR (Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar) technology, allow observing the deformation of the earth's surface and objects on it.
The Agency uses satellite radar images to detect changes caused by natural (earthquakes) and man-made phenomena, which helps to reliably assess the scale and direction of deformation. The Agency also uses optical satellite images to detect changes in the environment.
As part of the work carried out, the Agency determined the dynamics of deformations, displacements and sediments of reservoir dams, and a radar space monitoring system was introduced for 18 reservoirs.
This system, which includes a digital platform, provides monitoring of dam deformations, displacements and sedimentation, as well as areas adjacent to reservoirs. This important step is aimed at increasing the safety of reservoir use and timely notification of potentially critical areas of reservoirs and areas adjacent to reservoirs.
