From October 27 to 31, an international conference is taking place in Islamabad, Pakistan, focused on the use of space technologies for early warning systems, climate change mitigation, and disaster risk assessment.
Representatives from the "Uzbekcosmos" Agency are participating in the event—which is organized by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO)—and have delivered presentations.
Specifically, they shared insights into ongoing efforts to monitor the condition of reservoirs and dams using satellite data, detect displacements in the Earth's surface and infrastructure via radar interferometry (InSAR), and model potential flood zones.
Participation in this conference provides the "Uzbekcosmos" delegation with opportunities to exchange expertise, expand international cooperation, and further advance the application of space technologies for disaster risk reduction in Uzbekistan.
