The Agency of "Uzbekcosmos"

An international conference dedicated to World Cotton Day and food security issues in landlocked developing countries took place in Tashkent on October 7–8. The event was attended by FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) Executive Director Eric Trachtenberg, World Trade Organization (WTO) Deputy Director-General Jean-Marie Paugam, and representatives of international organizations.

During the conference, a representative of the "Uzbekcosmos" Agency delivered a presentation titled "Aerospace Technologies: A Modern Tool for Ensuring Food and Water Security."

The presentation highlighted the vital role of aerospace technologies in ensuring food security for Uzbekistan, taking into account the country's geographical characteristics, population growth, and limited land and water resources.

The capabilities of using satellite imagery and artificial intelligence were showcased for classifying wheat, cotton, and other crops, monitoring their growth cycles, and identifying problem areas at an early stage.

Special attention was paid to the use of Earth remote sensing data for monitoring drought, water scarcity, and land degradation. The importance of data sharing and collaborative approaches to addressing these challenges was emphasized to ensure regional resilience.

It was noted that accurate and timely data constitute a crucial resource for ensuring food security, while space technologies facilitate the efficient management of limited land and water resources, strengthen food security, and help preserve natural resources for future generations.

On the sidelines of the conference, representatives of the "Uzbekcosmos" Agency held a series of working meetings with executives and representatives from both foreign and domestic companies. During the negotiations, discussions focused on prospects for developing mutually beneficial cooperation, implementing joint projects, and exploring new areas of collaboration.
