Literacy is a crucial indicator not only of individual knowledge and skills but also of an organization's administrative culture and professional conduct. The accurate and competent preparation of documents in the state language enhances both the efficiency of an organization's operations and its professional reputation.
On October 7 of this year, specialists from the Center for Training in the Fundamentals of State Language Administration and Professional Development—operating under the Alisher Navoi Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature—conducted a voluntary dictation event at the "Uzbekcosmos" Agency under the slogan "A Literate Organization – A Literate Society."
The primary objective of the event was to improve the written literacy of agency staff regarding state language administration, reinforce their knowledge of spelling and punctuation, and further develop their skills in adhering to the norms of the Uzbek literary language.
Organized under the slogan "A Literate Organization – A Literate Society," this event is significant for its role in heightening staff attention toward the state language, boosting the prestige of the mother tongue, and fostering a greater sense of responsibility for adhering to linguistic norms.
Agency employees participated actively in the event, putting their literacy skills in their native language to the test. During the dictation exercise, participants were evaluated on the accuracy of their writing, adherence to grammar and spelling rules, appropriate use of punctuation, and attention to the culture of written communication.
The regular organization of such educational events serves to improve the written communication skills of the agency's staff, enhance the quality of official documentation in the state language, and further strengthen respect for the language within society.
