One of the most experienced NASA astronauts, the commander of the International Space Station, Andrew Feustel, who has made 9 spacewalks and spent 226 days in orbit, has arrived in Uzbekistan.
Today, he is working with the US company Vast. Vast is implementing large-scale projects aimed at creating the next generation of orbital stations for humanity. The company's Haven-1 project is recognized as one of the first commercial space stations in the world.
As part of the visit, the astronaut participated in a meeting with representatives of local media outlets organized by the Uzbekcosmos agency and stressed the importance of investing primarily in human capital to develop astronautics in Uzbekistan. In his opinion, to achieve success in the modern space industry, qualified engineers, programmers and scientific thinking are needed.
The astronaut noted the importance of widely involving young people in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. He specifically recognized Uzbekistan's historical scientific heritage, in particular the work of Mirzo Ulugbek, and noted that the country has great potential for the development of space science.
