The regional stage of the national "Young Engineer" competition in space robotics, held in Karshi, can be seen not just as another competition, but as a key indicator of the development of science and technology in Uzbekistan. The event, organized at the initiative of the Agency for Space Research and Technology under the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was a practical result of systematic efforts to develop the country's engineering and space potential.
First of all, it was no coincidence that the competition was held at Karshi State Technical University. Holding such large-scale scientific and technical events at regional universities helps reduce centralization and demonstrates that science is actively developing not only in the capital but throughout the country. This demonstrates the expansion of innovative development at the national level.
The participation of talented young people from the Bukhara, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, and Kashkadarya regions confirms the growing interest in engineering and technology in the regions. It is particularly significant that the participants included schoolchildren, students, and young scientists under 25 years of age. This demonstrates the development of a continuous training system and a strategic approach to human capital development.
The competition featured robotics projects, engineering developments, and software solutions, demonstrating not only the participants' theoretical knowledge but also their practical skills. A key element was that each participant defended their project before experts, explaining its novelty and advantages. This contributes to the development of young people's technical knowledge, as well as analytical thinking, communication skills, and an innovative approach.
Current global trends indicate that space technologies and robotics are becoming key drivers of the economy. In this context, such competitions play a crucial role in ensuring Uzbekistan's technological independence. The training of local specialists in the space sector is of strategic importance, as areas such as satellite technology, remote sensing, climate monitoring, and digital infrastructure are directly linked to the availability of highly qualified engineers.
Following the competition, 22 participants received spots in the national round, demonstrating the high level of competition and preparation.
In conclusion, the "Young Engineer" competition is more than just a competition, but an effective mechanism for developing a new generation of engineers, strengthening the integration of science and industry, and preparing young people for participation in global technological processes. With consistent implementation of such initiatives, Uzbekistan has every chance of becoming a hub of innovation and space technology in Central Asia in the near future.
