The Agency of "Uzbekcosmos"

On March 18 of this year, the Committee on Innovative Development and Information Technology of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, together with the Uzbekcosmos Agency, organized a roundtable discussion on "The Current State of the Space Industry and Prospective Areas of Its Development." The discussion focused on an in-depth analysis of the progress in implementing the objectives set for the industry in the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan's Address to the Oliy Majlis and the Nation.

The event was attended by members of the Legislative Chamber, representatives of the Uzbekcosmos Agency, the Academy of Sciences, scientists, researchers from higher education institutions, industry specialists, and media representatives.

During the roundtable, special attention was paid to the fact that in recent years, the widespread adoption of space technologies in economic sectors has become a priority area of ​​state policy, and the regulatory framework in this area is being consistently strengthened. As a result of the systemic measures being implemented, the use of space data is reaching a qualitatively new level.

In particular, remote sensing data has significantly expanded the capabilities for conducting precise analysis in areas such as agricultural land monitoring, water resource management, land cadastre, and urban planning. Systems for monitoring reservoir conditions using satellite imagery, assessing land area changes, and promptly identifying emergency situations are being implemented.

At the same time, a number of important steps have been taken to legally regulate the space industry. In recent years, regulations aimed at developing this sector have been adopted, and the institutional framework has been strengthened. This ensures a systematic approach to the implementation of space technologies and facilitates effective interaction between government agencies.

The special attention paid to the space industry in the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan's latest Address to the Oliy Majlis and the Nation marks the beginning of a new strategic phase in this area. Specifically, at the initiative of the head of state, for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan, the launch of a national satellite, the training of the first national cosmonaut, and the sending of that person into space have been identified as strategic objectives.

In this regard, prospects for international cooperation are being considered, including interaction formats with leading space agencies. This initiative has more than just symbolic significance. A national cosmonaut will become a powerful source of motivation for young people, a factor in increasing interest in science and strengthening the country's international image.

Sending a cosmonaut into space will be inextricably linked to the implementation of a specific scientific program. This step, along with enhancing the country's international prestige, will contribute to the development of scientific potential, the emergence of new projects and technological initiatives, and increased interest in science and technology among young people.

A solid legislative framework is undoubtedly the most important prerequisite for the implementation of these initiatives. The roundtable discussed practical achievements in the industry, existing problems and mechanisms for their resolution, as well as proposals for further legislative improvement.

Following the discussions, a number of practical proposals and recommendations were developed aimed at further developing the space industry, ensuring the fulfillment of the objectives outlined in the Presidential Address, strengthening a systems approach in this area, and improving the legislative and institutional framework.
