Kokand Mayor Marufjon Usmonov, together with sector officials, architects and representatives of relevant institutions, reviewed the concept of a new operational Masterplan aimed at preserving and comprehensively developing Kokand’s historical and cultural heritage, which has been included on UNESCO’s Tentative List.

The strategic project is being developed at the initiative of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation (ACDF) by the internationally recognised French architecture firm “Wilmotte & Associés Architectes”.
The Masterplan is planned to be fully developed over a period of 12 months in four stages, drawing on successful international methodologies applied in the cities of Bukhara, Khiva and Samarkand.
During the meeting, the key areas outlined in the urban planning document, including the work packages and priority tasks, were discussed in detail.
