These days, Marufjon Usmonov, Mayor of Kokand, who is on a working visit to the People’s Republic of China as part of the Uzbekistan delegation, held talks with the Mayor of Kashgar and responsible representatives of the Department of Tourism and Culture of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and familiarised himself with the work carried out in Kashgar to develop tourism and national handicrafts.

The tourism potential of Kashgar is associated with its ancient urban environment, Silk Road heritage, Uyghur national culture, handicrafts, markets, gastronomy and proximity to the Pamir Mountains. Historical streets, traditional houses, craft workshops, national cuisine and cultural programmes are brought together here.
The most important aspect of Kashgar’s experience is turning not just a single historical site, but the entire city into a tourism product. Kokand also has significant potential to combine the Khudoyarkhan Palace, Madarikhan, Dahmai Shahon, Jome Mosque, historical mahallas, handicrafts, national cuisine and traditional trade into a single pedestrian tourist route.
