Conditions for retirement
Old-age pension
Pursuant to Article 7 of the Law "On State Pension Provision of Citizens", the entitlement to an old-age pension shall be granted to:
- men — upon reaching the age of 60 and with an employment history of at least 25 years;
- women — upon reaching the age of 55 and with an employment history of at least 20 years.
Pursuant to Article 8 of the Law, for persons who do not have sufficient employment history for the assignment of a pension (Article 7), old-age pensions shall be assigned provided that there is at least 7 years of employment history as prescribed by paragraphs "a", "b", "v", and "g" of the first part of Article 37 of this Law, in an amount proportional to the existing history (Article 29).
Disability pension
Disability pensions shall be assigned to persons recognized in accordance with the procedure established by legislation as persons with disabilities of categories I and II, as well as to persons recognized as persons with disabilities of category III due to injury or disease caused by the accident at the Chernobyl NPP.
Survivor's pension
Disabled family members of a deceased breadwinner who were dependent on them (Article 20) shall be entitled to a survivor's pension. In this regard, the pension shall be assigned to children and to the persons specified in paragraph "v" of this Article, regardless of whether they were dependent on the breadwinner or not. Parents and a spouse of the deceased who were not dependent on them shall also be entitled to a pension if they subsequently lose their source of livelihood.
The following shall be considered disabled family members:
- children, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren under the age of 18, or over the age of 18 if they became children with disabilities before reaching the age of 18; provided that brothers, sisters, and grandchildren do not have able-bodied parents;
- father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, wife, husband, provided that they have reached the retirement age prescribed by Article 7 or are persons with disabilities;
- one of the parents or a spouse, or a grandfather, grandmother, brother, or sister, regardless of age and working capacity, if they are engaged in caring for the children, brothers, sisters, or grandchildren of the deceased breadwinner until they reach the age that entitles employees to be on unpaid leave for childcare, and do not work;
- grandfather and grandmother — in the absence of persons legally obliged to support them.
Pupils and students of educational organizations are entitled to receive a survivor's pension for the entire period of study, but until they reach the age of 23.
Minor children entitled to a survivor's pension shall retain this right even if they are adopted.
A stepson and a stepdaughter shall be entitled to a pension on an equal basis with biological children if they did not receive alimony from their parents.
A stepfather and a stepmother shall be entitled to a pension on an equal basis with a father and a mother if they raised or supported the deceased stepson (stepdaughter) for at least 5 years before they reached the age of 18. The procedure for establishing the fact of raising or supporting a deceased stepson (stepdaughter) by a stepfather and a stepmother shall be determined by the Cabinet Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
All provisions of this Law relating to the families of the deceased shall correspondingly apply to the families of missing persons, provided that the missing status of the breadwinner has been certified in accordance with the established procedure.
