Amid the population’s growing needs and the economy, the country’s transport network is steadily developing. In accordance with the Presidential Resolution issued on October 10, 2023, the road sector has been modernized, enabling the expansion of road construction, repair, and maintenance efforts.
The document outlines the creation of modern highways. In particular, with the support of the World Bank, a project for an alternative “Tashkent – Andijan” highway has been developed. The commissioning of this 314-kilometer expressway will reduce travel time between the two cities from 5 to 3 hours, increase the gross domestic product by 2.6%, and decrease road traffic accidents by 40%.
A recent international tender was announced for this project, attracting interest from many leading foreign companies.
At the meeting, proposals related to the project were reviewed. The Ministry of Transport was instructed to construct alternative highways in other high-traffic areas, enhance road convenience and safety, and organize various paid services.
Additionally, the President was informed about a project to establish a dry port in Navoi region in collaboration with the UAE’s AD Ports Group.
