To meet the growing needs of the population and the economy, all energy areas are being developed. Coal is the optimal source of energy in specific industries. According to estimates, Uzbekistan’s coal reserves are almost 2 billion tons.
These reserves are being gradually developed, and coal production volumes are consistently growing. In particular, if in 2016 this figure was less than 4 million tons per year, then in 2023 it reached 6 million 550 thousand tons.
Earlier, the Head of state noted the need to attract investors to the fields and implement new projects. As a result, there were shifts in attracting the private sector last year. Entrepreneurs produced 369 thousand tons of coal.
The presentation also provides information on work planned in the industry. It was noted that this year, coal production is intended to increase to 8 million tons, of which entrepreneurs will produce 900,000 tons. The Shargunkumir JSC will launch a coal enrichment plant with a capacity of 500 thousand tons per year.
Four areas in Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, and Tashkent regions are undergoing geological work. Production is planned to be launched there next year.
In addition, using advanced foreign experience, work on assessing and drilling coal seams continues. As a result of these activities, coal production is planned to increase to 10 million tons by 2025.
The responsible persons were instructed on introducing international standards in the industry, improving the quality of coal, and accelerating investment projects.
