The event brought together military attachés from foreign countries accredited in the Republic of Uzbekistan, prominent scholars, academicians and professors from the Academy of Sciences and higher educational institutions, instructors from the Academy of the Armed Forces, leading specialists in military history from the country’s higher military educational institutions, filmmakers, youth representatives, as well as members of the media.
The conference was officially opened by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Major General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov. In his opening remarks, he outlined the aims and objectives of the conference, emphasizing the importance of raising a new generation of military personnel within the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan who possess high moral standards, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility, remain loyal to national values, and are prepared to honorably defend the peace and stability of the country. He also stressed the need to integrate the legacy of the Timurids as an integral part of military education and training.
The conference featured discussions on a range of topics, including:
• "The Military Strategy of Amir Temur"
• "The Socio-Cultural and Military-Political Context in the Era of Amir Temur and the Timurids"
• "Amir Temur’s Expertise in Capturing Fortresses",
and many others.
Speakers gave special attention to an in-depth analysis of the military art, strategic thought, and foundations of statehood developed during the Timurid period, as well as explored the possibilities of incorporating this heritage into modern military education, training, and upbringing.
Indeed, the rich military and spiritual legacy of Amir Temur is being actively studied not only in Central Asian countries but also in Europe and other Western states, which is recognized as a significant development.
Events like this allow for an objective study of the military experience of the Timurid era and offer an opportunity to harmoniously integrate this historical legacy with modern defense and security concepts. This, in turn, lays the foundation for advancing military research to a new level.
In addition to academic presentations, the conference also featured panel discussions, an exhibition of historical documents and artifacts, and the presentation of special publications. Undoubtedly, such a large-scale international scientific and practical forum serves not only as a step toward deeper academic exploration of Amir Temur’s legacy but also plays a vital role in promoting Uzbekistan’s historical heritage on a global scale.
As part of the event’s cultural program, a concert was presented by the Central Song and Dance Ensemble of the Armed Forces, the “Turon” Military Theater, servicemen of the Ministry of Defense Command, as well as the Exemplary Military Band of the Ministry of Defense.
