The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the leadership of the Northwestern Military District, heads of the region’s law enforcement and security agencies, community activists, and military personnel.
Speaking at the ceremony, participants emphasized the importance of the opportunities being created for young people to receive education during their military service, acquire modern professional skills, and secure decent employment in the future. They also highlighted the significance of the reforms being implemented in this area.
This initiative is a practical implementation of the principle “One Soldier — One Profession,” aimed at making compulsory military service for young people not only a school of service to and defense of the Motherland, but also an important stage in acquiring knowledge and professional skills.
In accordance with the relevant resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 7, 2026, opportunities for conscripts to pursue higher education and receive vocational training during their military service have been significantly expanded.
In particular, starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, servicemen have been given the opportunity, during their military service, to register for admission to bachelor’s degree programs at higher education institutions through distance learning and participate in entrance examinations. In addition, 3–6-month vocational training courses have been introduced for military personnel.
These opportunities are already being put into practice. During the 2026/2027 academic year, 68 conscripts serving in the Northwestern military district were admitted to higher education institutions. The remaining servicemen are undergoing training in various professions and specialties.
The new center is equipped with modern classrooms and all necessary facilities. Alongside preparing for entrance examinations to higher education institutions, conscripts will acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in professions that are in high demand in the labor market.
Particular attention is being paid to enhancing the intellectual and professional potential of young people by involving qualified specialists and teachers in the educational process and organizing classes using modern teaching methods.
During the event, participants familiarized themselves with the facilities and conditions created at the new center and noted that the knowledge, professional qualifications, and skills acquired during military service will provide a solid foundation for young people’s further education and future careers.
