At the meeting, information was presented on the work carried out by the Committee in the field of legislation and parliamentary oversight in 2025, and priority tasks for 2026 were identified.
The meeting was attended by members of the Committee, representatives of the expert group, responsible senior officials from the Ministries of defense, Internal affairs, and emergency situations, the National guard, the Customs committee, as well as faculty members of the Academy of the Ministry of internal affairs, master’s degree students, and representatives of the mass media.
It was noted that during the past year, in order to ensure the rule of law and strengthen parliamentary oversight, the Committee held 17 meetings at which a total of 33 issues were considered. Of these, 21 laws were reviewed and approved.
Six pieces of information and two reports in relevant areas were heard. Studies were conducted in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and in the Khorezm, Bukhara, Navoi, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, and Tashkent regions on issues of road traffic safety and anti-corruption efforts.
In addition, throughout 2025, members of the Committee on an ongoing basis carried out explanatory and outreach work aimed at conveying to the general public the essence and significance of laws and other issues discussed at plenary sessions of the Senate, as well as at increasing the legal awareness of citizens.
During the reporting period, members of the Committee reviewed more than 700 appeals from individuals and legal entities, 510 of which were resolved positively.
On pressing issues, about 20 parliamentary inquiries were sent to the relevant agencies.
The meeting also actively discussed the Committee’s work plan for the first half of 2026. According to the new work plan for 2026, it предусматривает strengthening the legal framework to counter fraud and theft committed using information technologies (more than 62,000 such crimes were recorded in the first 11 months of 2025), improving the system of crime prevention at the local level and ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being, as well as studying the state of training of reserve officers in higher educational institutions, monitoring compliance with legislation in this area, and introducing new mechanisms for fostering youth in a spirit of military patriotism.
As a result of the meeting, a mechanism for interaction with the relevant ministries and agencies was defined to ensure the high-quality implementation of the identified tasks.
