On the Meeting with Members of the European Parliament

On April 16, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan with a delegation of the European Parliament led by MEP Tomáš Zdechovský.
The current state and prospects of Uzbekistan–EU relations were discussed during the meeting.
The dynamic development of bilateral ties in recent years, particularly in the political, trade-economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, was noted with satisfaction.
It was emphasized that both sides possess significant untapped potential for further expanding cooperation. The prompt signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union will also contribute to this process.
The Members of the European Parliament highly praised the large-scale reforms being carried out in the country and expressed their readiness to support their further implementation.
They also specifically highlighted their visit to the Surkhandarya region and the reforms underway in this southernmost part of the republic.
Both sides welcomed the successful holding of the first “Central Asia – EU” Summit, which took place on April 4 this year in Samarkand, resulting in the adoption of a Joint Declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two regions.
There was also an exchange of views on pressing regional and international issues.
