Political consultations held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Vietnam

On March 4, 2025, the sixth round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was held in Tashkent.
The delegations were headed by Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs Ilkhom Khaydarov and Le Thi Thu Hang.
The parties discussed the current state of political and diplomatic cooperation and prospects for its development, the issues of intensifying partnership in the trade and investment spheres, expanding cultural and humanitarian ties, and deepening dialogue within international organizations.
L.Hang: “Uzbekistan and Vietnam are close countries with fraternal ties, connected by a long history. More than 3 thousand Vietnamese students who studied in Uzbekistan educational institutions in the 1970s-1980s can serve as a “connecting bridge” between our countries. I know some of them personally - they are well-known journalists and diplomats. They are people who contribute to the development of Uzbek-Vietnamese cooperation, occupying a high position in society”.
The active relations at various levels – the growth of mutual trade and joint investment projects in the food industry, agriculture and fisheries, and the increase in the number of tourists between the two countries were noted with satisfaction.
Views were exchanged on new promising areas of bilateral cooperation, including the exchange of high-level visits.
Parties also exchanged the plans to organize the visit delegation led by the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man within the framework of participation in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in April 2025 in Tashkent.
First of all, special attention is paid to using the existing potential for cooperation in the trade and investment spheres. Mutual interest in expanding the legal framework in these areas was expressed. The importance of effectively using the opportunities of the Uzbek-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was noted.
The cooperation within international and regional organizations was agreed to continue. In particular, the Vietnamese side expressed its support for Uzbekistan's efforts to develop institutional cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The parties also exchanged views on current international and regional issues.
