The forthcoming appointment of the next Secretary-General of the United Nations is of particular importance for strengthening the authority and enhancing the effectiveness of the Organization amid growing global challenges.

In this regard, the Republic of Uzbekistan welcomes the decision of the United Arab Emirates to nominate Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State and former Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations, for the position of UN Secretary-General.

Uzbekistan believes that the next Secretary-General should possess a high level of professionalism, extensive diplomatic experience, and the ability to bring Member States together in efforts to maintain international peace and security and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
