Meeting with the Ambassador of Russia

On January 26, 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Olimjon Abdullayev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Uzbekistan Aleksei Erkhov.
During the meeting, the sides discussed in detail the current issues concerning the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who are working in the Russian Federation.
The discussion was attended by the Consuls General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in various regions of the Russian Federation, which allowed the issues to be examined in depth, taking into account the practical experience of working on the ground. The Russian side was represented by the leadership of the Consular department of the diplomatic mission, responsible staff for migration issues, as well as representatives of law enforcement agencies.
The Uzbek side particularly emphasized the fundamental importance of preventing any form of infringement on the rights and human dignity of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including both law-abiding individuals and those who have violated migration laws, during migration inspections and raids.
The meeting confirmed the commitment of both sides to develop a pragmatic and mutually respectful dialogue aimed at regulating migration processes and creating favorable conditions for the lawful employment of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation.
Both sides agreed on the necessity of regular consular consultations and bilateral meetings to continuously improve practical cooperation and strengthen collaboration.
