Plan of joint measures to combat locusts discussed with Turkmen specialists

A delegation of plant protection specialists from Turkmenistan arrived in Uzbekistan. The members of the delegation became acquainted with the activities of the Department for Combating Locusts and Mulberry Moth of the Agency, as well as the Research Institute of Plant Quarantine and Protection.
During the meeting, the specialists were presented with information on locust species found in Uzbekistan, methods for determining economic damage thresholds, forecasting pest spread, the procedure for conducting autumn and spring monitoring, as well as the use of modern biological and chemical control methods, their effectiveness, and application rates. In addition, the participants were shown how locust control measures are managed through an automated information system.
As part of the exchange of experience, specialists from both countries discussed ways to strengthen cooperation during the current season. In particular, they focused on conducting joint monitoring and control activities in the border areas of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to combat harmful locusts, as well as on the prompt exchange of information on the treated areas.
Such joint activities help strengthen mutual trust and the exchange of experience between the two countries in the phytosanitary field and play an important role in preventing the spread of harmful organisms that pose a threat to agriculture.
