BOMCA–10: Contributing to the Strengthening of Phytosanitary Security in Uzbekistan
The Agency for Plant Quarantine and Protection is taking important steps to ensure the safety of agricultural exports and to establish a system that meets international standards. To this end, our country continues cooperation under the BOMCA–10 (Border Management Programme in Central Asia), financed by the European Union.
For reference: the BOMCA programme is aimed at improving the border control system in Central Asian countries, ensuring security, and organizing trade processes effectively. Within the programme, special attention is given to:
- creating modern border infrastructure;
- improving staff qualifications;
- introducing methodologies for risk analysis and management;
- integrating international standards in the phytosanitary, veterinary, and sanitary spheres.
The step-by-step implementation of the programme in our country will make it possible to:
- accelerate and simplify the export processes of fruit and vegetable products;
- enhance the qualifications of inspectors;
- actively use modern laboratory equipment and information technologies;
- expand cooperation and introduce best practices in the field of phytosanitary security.
