An international conference titled “Comprehensive Support for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises for Economic Development and Competitiveness” was held in Shakhrisabz.

During this session, participants engaged in an in-depth discussion on the opportunities created in Uzbekistan for the development of startups, the activities implemented within the framework of the MUNIS project, its initial achievements, and future plans. The attendees exchanged views on how to make the startup ecosystem more resilient and competitive in the context of today’s rapidly changing global economic landscape.
The event was attended by Rustam Ergashov, Head of Department at the Agency for Innovative Development; Yerali Beksulton, Senior Specialist for Private Sector Development at the World Bank; Dilshod Azgarov, Head of the MUNIS Project Implementation Unit; Yagiz Karadeniz, Managing Partner at DOMiNO Ventures; Dilfuza Egamberdieva, Deputy Director of the ISCAD International Center under the Ministry of Agriculture; and successful startups involved in the project. The discussion was moderated by Sergey Makarov, an international expert in technology commercialization.
The roundtable emphasized several key directions:
- The MUNIS project's unique and practical approach to supporting innovative initiatives;
- Effective organization of the selection and incubation stages;
- Guidance provided to startups through technical support and mentorship programs;
- Strong linkages established with investors.
In addition, participants highlighted the need to:
- Expand the ecosystem at the regional level;
- Actively attract venture financing mechanisms;
- Develop a sustainable financial model for startups.
The discussions also underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in shaping a robust innovation ecosystem.
At the conclusion of the event, all participants reached a common understanding on continuing collaboration in the next phases of the MUNIS project, attracting new startups, and further strengthening the existing ecosystem.
This meeting served not only as a platform for experience exchange but also laid a solid foundation for new ideas, promising initiatives, and future partnerships.
