The project "Establishing a Rabbit Breeding Cluster" by LLC Diyorbek Imkoni Rabbits aims to provide the population with high-quality, nutritious, and affordable meat products.
It is well known that rabbits are distinguished from other animals by their rapid growth and early maturity. For example, while a calf doubles its weight by the 47th day, a rabbit achieves the same result by the 6th day. Within a month, its weight increases tenfold, and by three months — up to thirtyfold. This creates excellent opportunities to supply the population with affordable meat products quickly. Moreover, the meat of 4–5-month-old rabbits is considered especially beneficial. It is a dietary product that is easily digestible, improves metabolism, and helps prevent the development of atherosclerosis. It is highly recommended for children, the elderly, pregnant and nursing women, patients recovering from serious illnesses, individuals performing heavy physical labor, and athletes.
Taking into account the importance of the project and the above-mentioned factors, the Agency for Innovative Development supported it with commercialization funding of 1.0 billion Uzbek soums in 2022.
As a result, conditions were created for the genetic adaptation and breeding of pedigree rabbits to the local climate. More than 500 pedigree rabbits were imported from Europe, and selection work was initiated.
The implementation of this project created permanent jobs for 10 local residents. Additionally, a household-based breeding method (“Xonadonbay” system) was introduced, leading to increased income for employed residents. On average, the enterprise now produces around 31,500 kg of rabbit meat annually.
Currently, cooperation has been established with the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology, within which scientific research is being carried out in this field.
