An innovative project aimed at the deep processing of livestock products is being implemented in the Muynak district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. As part of the project, the production of various food and cosmetic products made from camel milk has been launched.
The Agency for Innovative Development allocated UZS 1.063 billion to purchase the necessary equipment for the commercialization project “Production of Non-Traditional Fermented Dairy Products,” being implemented under the leadership of Abbaz Jarimbetov.
The project currently produces dried camel milk powder, shubat (qumron), as well as yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, and cream made from camel milk. In addition, cosmetic products such as milk-based soap, cream, and shampoo are also being produced from camel milk.
As a result of the project, 5 permanent jobs have been created to date. Plans are underway to expand production in Bozatau district and establish an additional production unit, which is expected to increase the number of jobs to 10.
According to available data, total sales under the project have reached UZS 1.25 billion. The products are being supplied to the domestic market. In particular, 500 grams of dried camel milk powder are sold for UZS 500,000, while one liter of shubat is sold for UZS 35,000.
The project is creating opportunities for the deep processing of locally available raw materials in Karakalpakstan, increasing their added value, and expanding the production of finished goods. Most importantly, by connecting traditional livestock farming with the processing industry, the project is contributing to the creation of new jobs and increased economic activity in the region.
Growing interest in the nutritional properties of camel milk products is also creating additional opportunities to further expand this sector in the future.
