Regular Meeting of the Council for Science and Innovation Held

On June 3, 2026, the regular meeting of the Council for Science and Innovation under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held. The event brought together nearly 50 representatives of the scientific community, including Council members, as well as chairpersons and secretaries of the Scientific and Technical Councils (STCs) representing various fields of science.
The meeting was opened by Uktam Salomov, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and Chairperson of the Council for Science and Innovation.
In his opening remarks, he introduced the updated composition of the Council and provided information on the current status of organizing competitive selections within the framework of state scientific programs, as well as the financing of scientific projects.
During the meeting, participants thoroughly discussed the processes of evaluating and financing projects under state scientific programs. A. Norov, Acting Director of the Innovation Development Agency, presented an analysis of these processes, highlighted existing challenges and shortcomings in the activities of the Scientific and Technical Councils, and proposed measures to address them.
Representatives of the Scientific and Technical Councils also shared practical recommendations and views aimed at advancing scientific development in their respective fields, improving the effectiveness of research projects, and addressing existing sector-specific challenges.
At the conclusion of the meeting, additional comments and proposals from the chairpersons and secretaries of the Scientific and Technical Councils regarding the agenda items were heard.
Summarizing the discussions, Council Chairperson Uktam Salomov outlined specific tasks and instructions for responsible stakeholders to ensure greater transparency in scientific projects, improve the quality of competitive selection processes, and promptly address existing challenges in the sector.
For reference, the meeting served as an important platform for discussing ways to enhance the effectiveness of research activities, improve state scientific programs, and further develop mechanisms for the systematic financing of innovative ideas in the country.
