On May 23 of the current year, a regular meeting was held between Acting Director of the Agency for Innovative Development Asror Norov and Dr. Tarifa Al Zaabi, Director General of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA). During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of significant importance for the Aral Sea region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a cooperation agreement was signed aimed at jointly addressing pressing challenges in the Aral Sea region, including global climate change, water scarcity, and soil salinization, as well as promoting the widespread implementation of green innovations across the region.
Within the framework of the cooperation, the project entitled “Accelerator Program for Farmers and Agri-Entrepreneurs Aimed at Developing and Commercializing the Agricultural Product Value Chain” will be implemented. The project will be financed through a grant provided by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
As part of the project, it is planned to modernize all stages of the agricultural product value chain in Karakalpakstan — from cultivation and production to processing and delivery of finished products to the market.
In addition, the initiative aims to facilitate the commercialization of scientific developments in the field of biosaline agriculture, support agrarian startups, and establish a specialized training and acceleration system for farmers, young specialists, and agri-entrepreneurs with the participation of ICBA international experts.
This cooperation will serve as an important step toward ensuring environmental sustainability in the Aral Sea region and improving the well-being of the population.
