During this prestigious international event, Nargiza Mirrakhimova, representative of the Agency for Innovative Development, moderated a discussion session titled “Research for Sustainable Communities”.
During the discussions, delegates from the Asia-Pacific region and other parts of the world exchanged views on the role of science and innovation in addressing complex social, environmental, technological, and development-related challenges facing modern societies. Participants also discussed the development of community-engaged research, strengthening the social impact of scientific activities, effective use of artificial intelligence and open science principles, as well as improving funding and governance mechanisms aimed at supporting long-term sustainable development.
As a result of the discussions, several important recommendations were developed to support scientific research contributing to sustainable and inclusive development.
At the conclusion of the event, the Global Research Council also reviewed and approved the host country for the “15th Annual Meeting of the Global Research Council 2027”.
In addition, the Global Research Council officially approved the participation of the Agency for Innovative Development as a partner organization in organizing the “Regional Meeting of the Global Research Council for the Asia-Pacific Region”, which will take place this November in Seoul. This marks the first time an organization from Central Asia has been selected as a partner for this event.
For reference, regional meetings of the Global Research Council are held annually for the Asia-Pacific, Americas, Europe, Middle East and North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa regions. These meetings bring together leaders of international scientific organizations, research foundations, innovation agencies, and authorized institutions in the field of science to discuss the development of science and innovation, expansion of international scientific cooperation, and the development of scientific solutions to global challenges. The event in Seoul will be organized jointly by the National Research Foundation of the Republic of Korea and the Agency for Innovative Development.
