On May 7 of this year, the Agency for Innovative Development hosted a practical meeting with experts from the Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI) of Korea. This dialogue marks a significant milestone in implementing the "National Strategy for Technoparks of Uzbekistan" for 2025–2027.
A grant of $450,000 has been allocated to this project, which is being carried out under the K-Innovation Partnership Program of the Republic of Korea. The objective is to adapt the South Korean technopark model—a cornerstone of their technological success—to the local context of Uzbekistan and to formulate a comprehensive national strategy.
During the visit of STEPI experts from May 4 to 7, the infrastructure of Uzbekistan’s technoparks, service quality, and existing challenges were thoroughly examined. Future plans regarding startup support, business incubation enhancement, and attracting private investment into the innovation ecosystem were also discussed.
The new strategy aims to reorganize local technoparks through a modern approach. This will not only increase the attractiveness of services provided but also serve as a foundation for high-tech manufacturing and job creation within the country.
For reference: The K-Innovation Partnership Program was established by STEPI in 2014 as a platform for collaboration in science, technology, and innovation policy between Korea and developing nations. This is the first time Uzbekistan has been selected as a winner in this program.
STEPI, founded in 1987, is a government-funded research institute in the Republic of Korea. Its primary mission is to provide policy research and analysis in science, technology, and innovation to support national development and global competitiveness. STEPI is currently ranked 5th among the world's most influential think tanks.
