To support young scientists and expand their participation in international scientific cooperation, the Foundation for Financing Science and Supporting Innovations systematically funds internship programs in foreign scientific organizations. Within the framework of this program, Mohinabonu Savurova, a researcher at the Tashkent Research Institute of Vaccines and Sera (TASHRIIVS), completed a scientific internship at one of Hungary's most prestigious higher education institutions — the University of Debrecen — from February 16 to March 29, 2026.
This internship provided the young scientist with the opportunity to enhance her scientific potential, familiarize herself with modern laboratory methods, and apply advanced scientific approaches to practice. During the practical sessions, she conducted several relevant research projects in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
Specifically, in-vitro experiments were conducted on Caco-2 and HaCaT cell lines to develop nanoemulsion-based drug delivery systems and study their characteristics. Additionally, the MTT assay was used to determine cell viability, while the DPPH assay was employed to evaluate antioxidant activity. Analyzing the effectiveness of bioactive substances and their cytotoxic properties was also a crucial part of the research.
During the internship, Mohinabonu Savurova gained essential practical skills in organizing experimental design correctly, optimizing laboratory processes, and performing scientific and statistical analysis of the results. This will contribute to increasing the efficiency of her future scientific endeavors.
It is worth noting that such international internships are vital for broadening the scientific horizons of young researchers, mastering best practices, and implementing them into the development of national science. The knowledge and experience gained during this internship are expected to further advance scientific research in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors of Uzbekistan.
