On April 21 of this year, the "CIS Innovative Industry Forum" was held as part of the international industrial exhibition "Innoprom. Central Asia," aimed at uniting the innovative potential of the Commonwealth countries.
The event was opened by Kongratbay Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Ilhom Nematov, Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee.
The panel session, titled "Innovative Industry of the CIS: A New Model of Interstate Cooperation," featured several key speakers, including Uktam Salomov, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan; Vadim Ganin, Director General of the CIS Business Center for Economic Development; Svetlana Smirnova, Chairperson of the General Council of the Assembly of the Peoples of the World; Sergey Mayorov, Chairman of the Board of the Industrial Cluster of the Republic of Tatarstan; Nijat Asadli, Deputy Director of the Science and Higher Education Agency of Azerbaijan; and Alexander Okunev, Department Director at the Skolkovo Foundation.
Presentations focused on priority areas of interstate industrial and innovation policy, sustainable cooperation mechanisms, and the creation of technology transfer systems. Discussions also covered the prospects of implementing artificial intelligence in CIS industries and ensuring the integration of science, education, and production.
Furthermore, within the framework of the forum, representatives from relevant ministries of Uzbekistan and partner countries exchanged views on deepening scientific cooperation and developing industrial-scientific collaboration, highlighting current achievements and existing challenges.At the conclusion of the event, participants agreed to establish a special joint working group to strengthen scientific and technological chains and move science-industry integration into a practical phase. This group's primary task will be the rapid exchange of information regarding innovations, technology transfer, and innovative projects.
In the final part of the forum, participants toured the "Innoprom. Central Asia" exhibition pavilions. The 18,000-square-meter exhibition space showcases the latest technologies and innovations. About 400 leading Uzbek companies are presenting their products at the national stand, while delegations from 16 regions of the Russian Federation are focused on strengthening bilateral investment ties.
