On April 20 of this year, a meeting was held at the Agency for Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan with a delegation led by Tornike Jobava, Deputy Chairman of the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
The meeting was aimed at strengthening international cooperation in science and innovation between the two countries, launching joint programs for knowledge and experience exchange, as well as fostering the integration of innovative initiatives, infrastructure, and ecosystems.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed prospects for developing the innovation ecosystem between Uzbekistan and Georgia, along with practical mechanisms for its implementation. Special attention was given to exchanging experience in supporting startups.
As part of the event, an initiative was proposed to organize a joint hackathon in cooperation with Georgia within the framework of the international innovation week “InnoWeek.Uz–2026”. It was noted that this event would serve as a platform for experience exchange among talented youth and startup founders of the two countries.
Additionally, following the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish a system for continuous exchange of experience between the technoparks of the two countries.
It was emphasized that this cooperation would elevate technological ties between Uzbekistan and Georgia to a new level and contribute to improving the regional innovation environment.
For reference: GITA has broad authority to promote innovation, support modern technologies, enhance the competitiveness of startups, and foster collaboration between science and business. Over the past 10 years, the agency has implemented funding programs, launched educational initiatives, incubation and acceleration programs, technology transfer projects, and established technoparks across the country.
