The priority today is to prevent existing crimes in the global space in advance, to forecast new types of crimes that may occur in the future, and to develop effective methods for combating those crimes. Developing cooperation with similar international organizations and institutions in this direction is one of the most important priorities.
On October 29, the opening ceremony of the 1st international forum on "Best practices of world criminology" was held according to the Presidential Resolution dated January 15, 2024 "On the organization of scientific and practical research in criminology", as well as the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers dated September 12, 2024, which aims to study and apply the results of international criminology and the experiences of foreign countries in the field.
The event was attended by distinguished guests from foreign countries, government representatives, international criminologists, qualified representatives of partner organizations, and international observers.
At the beginning of the event, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Major General Bekmurod Abdullaev, spoke and stressed that the main objective of the forum is to strengthen international cooperation in the future, combat transnational crimes, and ensure global public safety.
As the head of our state recognized, practical cooperation with countries worldwide is being strengthened under the principles of open foreign policy, mutual solidarity and respect, close neighborhood relations, and strategic partnerships.
In the following session, Colonel Bakhtiyor Berdialiev, head of the Research Institute of Criminology at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, presented a lecture.
Specifically, it was noted that the positive changes implemented in New Uzbekistan's internal affairs bodies continue to be consistently implemented, and the establishment of a research institute in the field of criminology in the Ministry of Interior Affairs, as well as its objectives, tasks, current work and future plans, were discussed.
For the purpose of establishing a systematic control of visitor safety during the event, and in order to identify future problems, develop preventative measures, and implement the most effective methods in this area, as well as develop well-thought-out mechanisms and methodologies, the necessity to conduct systematic criminological research to establish systematic controls was discussed.
