Reports have appeared on social networks claiming that smoke emissions from a production facility located in the “Satkak” neighborhood are poisoning the local population.
The situation has been taken under control by the Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change. It was established that the facility belongs to the family enterprise “Farhod Sher Azizbek” and operates as a lime production workshop.
A legal inspection was carried out by the Department in accordance with the law, with notification of the Commissioner under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the Protection of the Rights and Legitimate Interests of Business Entities (inspection code: 455-342-703).
During the inspection:
— compliance with environmental, ecological protection, and natural resource legislation at the “Farhod Sher Azizbek” family enterprise was reviewed;
— the head of the enterprise was warned to eliminate the identified shortcomings and to take measures to drastically reduce emissions into the atmosphere;
— responsibility was imposed to eliminate the factors causing public complaints.
Furthermore, based on the inspection results, considering the serious negative impact of the enterprise’s activities on the environment, lawsuits were filed with the judicial authorities to suspend the enterprise’s operations.
The Fergana District Administration declares that the issue is under full control and that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure public health and environmental safety.
